Earlier convection has largely died off across the region with a remnant frontal boundary/outflow generally along the I-20 corridor at this hour. Modest low level convergence along this boundary within an area of weak ascent aloft downstream from a shortwave moving through the Central and Southern Plains should aid in a few additional showers developing through the overnight hours. This boundary will generally remain in place over the next 12 hours and may serve as a focus for additional convection during the day Friday, although coverage is expected to be less than today. We'll keep additional rain chances around 20%. Intermittent thicker cloud cover and overall lower heights should shave a few degrees off of high temperatures for Friday with highs generally in the upper 90s.
Mid level ridging will again expand across the Southern Plains into the weekend with rain chances dwindling back down toward zero and high temperatures nudging upward a few degrees. Most areas should be at or above 100 degrees again through the weekend. Despite a few sites likely to reach 105 heat index values both today and Saturday, we'll hold off on any widespread heat advisories for the region for the time being.
